News Archives: December 2008 Wednesday, December 31, 2008 Happy New Year There are islands in the Pacific where it is now 2009, so Happy New Year. May 2009 be better for you than 2008 was. There's now less than six hours till people start arriving for our Hogmany party. I can't think of a better way to start the new year than with friends and explosives. Looks like we've got enough cars coming to get everyone home afterwards, even if a few people I don't know about turn up. I probably shouldn't have spent half the morning building shelves and re-arranging the walk in cupboard, but I did. It's not like I've got that much else to do before the party... Posted by graham @ 12:39 pm Monday, December 8, 2008 New Year's Eve Less than four weeks of the year left, so I thought I'd post a quick reminder about our New Year's Eve party. It's pretty much the usual plan - bring yourself, drinks, and optionally friends. There'll be fireworks. I'm determined about this. I'll set them off in the garage if I have to. (Disclaimer - Claire might not let me burn the garage down for your entertainment...) Unlike normal parties at ours, I do need to know who's attending in advance. If you are coming, please tell me. (Preferably in writing (e-mail or whatever), given that back-ache and man-flu have pretty much killed my brain for the last month or so. In fact, even if you have already told me you're coming, a reminder might be a good idea...) I can cope with phrases like "probably", "maybe", and "if". But the more information I have, the better. Normally, people can decide whether to come to one of our parties at the last moment. We don't mind, and the biggest problem it will cause is a couple of minutes figuring out who needs to make the midnight train home. Unfortunately, on 31st December the trains are stopping around 10pm, which is less than helpful. So this time we're going to need to be *organised* to make sure there isn't someone with neither crash space nor any way of getting home. Posted by graham @ 06:02 pm |
