I thought that as we live in such a beautiful area of the country and the sheer quantity of wildlife that abounds in our woodlands that we should have an area dedicated to wildlife sightings.
Anyone can post – I also think that you can also add photographs, I will check with Alistair, if so I will include some of the beautiful butterflies that have visited my buddleia bush over the summer.
We could also arrange some wildlife walks I would be happy to arrange some now that I have retired from teaching all of your little darlings and in fact some of you.
Oh dear,
This did not work quite as I intended.
Alistair you might be able to help here.
I set up a new category called local wildlife and I am sure that I chose that when I posted and I expected to see a separate link to the wildlife posts. This does not appear to be the case as the message is just in with all of the rest.
Possibly I am a bit too old for all of this technology?
Not to worry, Jenny. The categories are something we haven't sorted out yet. At the moment, everything just appears on the front page. When we have a few more posts, I'll arrange things so that they also appear on a seperate page - one for each category. I just need to find the time.
Posted by: Alistair Hawthorn at October 13, 2003 06:52 PMHaving spent four solid hours crawling around the old pit workings picking up litter( esp. old lager tins), I was rewarded by seeing two Adonis blue butterflies. These rare and beautiful creatures have never been recorded this far north as yet so please could people let me know if they spot any more or report sightings to the Butterfly Conservation Trust.
Thanks,
Frankie
